Evil Villain

For this project I chose to go with the Evil Villain. I found this to be a lot more interesting than just creating another stereotypical hero type. I also didnt want to do the same for villain either. His powers were to contrast that of the hero's which would be controlling plants. It wasnt hard to think of things that would stand against plants. Fire was too obvious a contrast so I thought of what might be a plants mortal enemy.. Bugs.

Here is the artboard for some of the evilest looking bugs I could find.

These are some of the villain I used for inspiration.

After a while of coming up with head sketches I decided to go with a older villain.

I came up with a little backstory as well. This old man is obsessed with keeping his garden utterly and painstakingly beautiful. Becoming infested with a new kind of bug hes never seen before. After many failed attempts he decides to make his own kind of bug spray but with the DNA of that pesky bug. During his mixture he accidently drops it and inhales the fumes, turning him into this bugman. He eventually comes to terms with what he is but despises anyone's garden who
is better than his.

Here is the first form I focused more on getting his face structure down.

Getting closer to the detail, scale, and proportion I want him to be.

Posed and detailed a bit more. With this model I will go over and create more creases and details before going on to color.

The Timid Octopus

Here are some artboards I came up with for the timid octopus project.

The first board I wanted a good mixture of human and animal expressions to really help the feel of the model. The pose and eye positioning really seemed to be the 2 elements I needed to get spot on for this project.

As far as the octopus itself I was looking into using the umbrella octopus.I was hoping to use its dumbo like ears to accentuate the shy expression I was looking for in the end I decided against it thinking it would make the form too busy with 8 tentacles included.

These are some of the base sketches I came up with. I liked the withdrawn look of the octopus reeling behind a rock or an underwater object of some sort to keep itself from danger.

Here is the beginning form not much to look at yet..

Here we have a more basic idea of the form and its already somber look. I liked the curve of the tentacles more than just straight forward tentacles.

After a posing and placing him on a rough base my model was starting to come together.

Lots of suction cups, wrinkles, color and new jellyfish friend later we have a better picture of this timid little guy.

Here is a final render with a simple background added for fun.

Here is a turnaround of the Final project I hope you enjoy it.
