For this project I chose to go with the Evil Villain. I found this to be a lot more interesting than just creating another stereotypical hero type. I also didnt want to do the same for villain either. His powers were to contrast that of the hero's which would be controlling plants. It wasnt hard to think of things that would stand against plants. Fire was too obvious a contrast so I thought of what might be a plants mortal enemy.. Bugs.
Here is the artboard for some of the evilest looking bugs I could find.
These are some of the villain I used for inspiration.
After a while of coming up with head sketches I decided to go with a older villain.
I came up with a little backstory as well. This old man is obsessed with keeping his garden utterly and painstakingly beautiful. Becoming infested with a new kind of bug hes never seen before. After many failed attempts he decides to make his own kind of bug spray but with the DNA of that pesky bug. During his mixture he accidently drops it and inhales the fumes, turning him into this bugman. He eventually comes to terms with what he is but despises anyone's garden who
is better than his.
Here is the first form I focused more on getting his face structure down.
Getting closer to the detail, scale, and proportion I want him to be.
Posed and detailed a bit more. With this model I will go over and create more creases and details before going on to color.
